Vanessa + Ross

You know, when people ask me for recommendations for where to get married, a Wasing Park Wedding is always at the forefront of my thoughts. There is always something about Wasing Park – the variety of beautiful buildings, gorgeous countryside views, awesome staff….the list goes on. The atmosphere is always just fantastic.
Here’s the latest in my guest blog posts, featuring some insight by the happy couples’s themselves. I’m very grateful to Vanessa & Ross for providing the lovely words about their day below.AJ_signature for blog

Ross proposed to me on our 10 year anniversary and when our venue had the date available it seemed fitting to have our first day as husband and wife to be on the same date the following year.

Although the wedding was 10 days before Christmas, we didn’t want a festive theme, but instead we wanted to incorporate a magical atmosphere through lots of flickering candles, beautiful flowers and twinkling fairy lights.

Wasing Park was the perfect venue for our day. It had everything we wanted – a beautiful little church, stunning accommodation and lots of unique buildings full of character all on one site. We loved the fact that we would have the use of the comfortable and cosy Stables Lodge, the elegant Garden Room as well as the character of the Castle Barn for different parts of our day.

It was the first venue we went to visit and it was the only place that just felt like ‘us’. Everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the process. We knew the food would be of a high standard but it surpassed our expectations. Our guests are still commenting on it now!

As soon as we found our venue, my first job was to find a great photographer, as having beautiful wedding photos that captured our day was my biggest priority. I met Alistair from Ideal Imaging at a wedding fair and knew straight away that he would be perfect. Aside from his work being stunning, he put me at ease and really shared our vision as to how we wanted our day to be captured. On the day itself, Alistair went above and beyond to create beautiful pictures. He captured so many special moments that tell the story of our day perfectly.

One of our favourite parts was the slideshow of photos from the day being projected during the Evening Reception. It was amazing how quickly the photos were turned around and the guests loved reliving highlights from the day.

We were so surprised when we received an email a week after the wedding saying that our photographs were ready to view. Alistair must have worked so hard to get them ready so quickly and it was lovely being able to look at them over the Christmas holidays, reminiscing with family and friends.

Ross and I are certainly not the most comfortable in front of the camera but Alistair was able to capture so many beautiful pictures that we treasure.
