The Olde Bell Hurley Wedding of Emma + Russ
It’s funny, this little journey that wedding photography takes you on, bringing up all sorts of associations from the past. Colleagues from a former career, friends you haven’t seen for years and places that you used to visit as a child.
But the association from my past for this Olde Bell Hurley wedding, that of the totally awesome Emma + Russ, was place mats. Yes, PLACE MATS!. You see when I was growing up we used to have this set of place mats that featured famous old pubs from across the land. One of them in particular stuck in my mind – ‘The Olde Bell at Hurley’. Why? Not sure really. Perhaps it was the closest to where we lived and I remember seeing a sign post for it on the route we used to take my Aunt & Unlce’s place in Henley.
‘How very interesting’ I hear you say! Well it was to me and it certainly resonated massively with me when Emma & Russ asked me to photograph their wedding at this historic place that held such a place in my heart, having seen me in action at their friends’ wedding in 2016.
So here follows the story of their day in a series of some my all time favourite wedding photos. I loved everything about Emma and Russ but their energy and sense of fun were what really stood out. And, as always is the case, that rubbed off on all their guests too and made for a fabulous wedding to be a part of, let alone to photograph.
Thanks for stopping by.
