Katy + Adam

From the very first moment Katy + Adam contacted me about their Highcliffe Castle wedding, it looked set to be one of my big highlights of 2017. Friends of some previous wedding clients, Shannon & Rob, they had to be awesome people. But their venue also captured my imagination being somewhere I had frequented on many occasions with my family over the last 10-15 years.
Below are some of the highlights in photos but first here’s some great insight from the newly weds re the background and preparation for their wedding. Just love the bit where they mention about me prioritising another photo opportunity over finishing my foo Yep, that’s me!AJ_signature for blog

“Planning our wedding began about 6 months after we got engaged, and we decided we would like a Summer/Autumn wedding in the New Forest. We were unsure what we wanted regarding a venue, so viewed several venues, but nothing quite fit. Until we saw Highcliffe Castle. We both knew that the beautiful gardens, easy access to the beach and bare brick walls inside were perfect for us. Once Highcliffe was booked we discussed what other aspects of the wedding were the most important to us and we decided that having some amazing photos of the day were hugely important. Alistair was recommended to us by a friend who had attended two weddings that he had photographed before. We were really impressed with the quality and creativity of his photography and meeting with Alistair was the first time I got really excited about the day.

We didn’t really pick a ‘theme’, instead we decided on a colour for the bridesmaids and worked from there. I knew that I didn’t want ‘traditional’ dresses of the bridesmaids or myself, so I gave them free reign with choosing their dresses, but asked them to choose a grey dress that they could wear again. Adam is quite traditional so knew he wanted to wear tails on the day which looked great with the castle setting! I love homemade things and wanted to include some personal touches throughout the day, including designing the invitations, making the candle favours and creating the table plan. We used different gin bottles as table names as we both love gin, and included sweet pea flowers where possible as it has a special meaning for us.

Being a tad camera shy (unlike my husband!) I was quite anxious about posing for photos on the day but Alistair was amazing at making me feel relaxed. He worked super hard to get photos of all the guests, including the brood of page boys and flower girls, as well as getting the right people together for the formal photos. All our guests commented on how hard he was working, and prioritised another great photo opportunity over finishing his food! Our photos were sent over when we still on honeymoon, and are amazing! We couldn’t be happier to have the amazing memories of our day captured by Alistair’s unique style in a beautiful album that we get out to show people at every opportunity! “
