Anna & Andrew

The Elvetham Wedding Photographer: Anna + Andrew

Anna & Andrew (‘Freshie’ to the world!) – what an absolutely fabulous couple. And what a beautiful spring Elvetham wedding (just check out all that cherry blossom!). This was one of the most colourful, enjoyable (OK so I love them all) and truly memorable of wedding days.
I am currently running a series of blogs, inviting the now happily married couples to share some insight into the planning and ideas for their weddings. I’m absolutely delighted that Anna & Freshie were happy to provide a few words about their Elvetham Wedding, as below.AJ_signature for blog

THEIR DAY IN THEIR WORDS

“After getting engaged at my school on the last day of term, surrounded by my own class holding up the words ‘ Anna – Will you marry me?’, I felt that the engagement would be hard to beat. By the time 2016 came around, we began to think ‘ What do we actually want?’. We went through the same process that I imagine most couples do – how can we make our day completely Anna and Freshie and not be like every other wedding. The whirlwind had begun. After attending a few wedding fairs and creating the ultimate Pintrest board, we soon realised that the venue would be key before we could decide about anything else.

Our venue, The Elvetham, came out of the blue after visiting barns, castles and stately homes. It provided a beautiful and unforgettable  backdrop which could cater for over 100 guests and even more importantly – a gentleman’s bar which would stay open until the last person standing. Choosing an April date was a risky choice although we both felt that if the worst was to happen ( rain) the venue was striking enough to create the wedding we had both always dreamt of. The staff at The Elvetham could not have done more – on the day we both could not fault the professionalism and the extent to which they went to make our day perfect. We still have family and friends who comment on ‘ that steak’ and  ‘how on earth was it cooked so perfectly for 100 people?’.
From the beginning we both knew we wanted a band. We had met in Brighton and it was really important to us that our wedding really was a night to remember. One of the best extravagances we included which we didn’t consider was just what a difference a third set of music would make. Our band, also from Brighton, had practiced our first dance track and the images from those few minutes are probably one of our favourites from our big day.
Throughout the day and well into the night, our photographer Alistair seemed almost invisible. Several weeks before the wedding, he had asked us to write down any ‘must have shots’ we wanted but other than that he was completely self-led. During the ceremony he managed to capture moments we weren’t even aware were happening such as the reactions on the faces of the guests behind us which is something you would normally miss out on as a bride and groom! He gave us advice about having greeting lines and created the most exquisite, leather bound album which exceeded our every expectation. We show our family and friends with absolute pride and both of our parents have remarked on what an incredible job he did- and trust me when I say they have high standards! Alistair and his wife were so patient when we asked for ( several) edits and the turn around was far quicker that expected. In a word he was completely faultless and I have gone on to recommend him to anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer.”
